About

Marilina Davila is the photographer and founder of Silver & Pixel Photography, a portrait studio that specializes in capturing the true essence of pets at their fullest as well as the bond that exists between pets and their human companions. Silver & Pixel Photography offers formal and candid indoor studio sessions, or storytelling, relaxed sessions outdoors at beautiful locations selected by the client or at the client’s home. Every element within her viewfinder acquires relevance, and the unique combination of light, shadows, personalities and temperaments, props and colors, combine together in one instant to create an image that is as unique and original as the client who commissions it.
The minute you see Marilina interact with her client’s pets, you will instantly notice that she has a direct connection with them, a natural communication, out of her love and deep respect for animals, and from her direct experience and knowledge on animal behavior. Many children, family or wedding photographers find it extremely difficult to deal with pets; for Marilina, however, dealing with pets and their sometimes unpredictable behavior comes naturally and has been an essential part of her work during the last five years. Babies, children, families and seniors are also welcome to have Marilina’s unique signature and style imprinted in their portraits, even if they don’t have pets.
In addition to photography projects, Marilina also takes time to gift her skills and time to animal rescue and shelter organizations in Puerto Rico. Photography is a powerful medium, and whether it’s pictures of sheltered animals to promote their adoption, or raising money for organizations, she is always willing to help. Marilina’s work has been featured in local newspaper articles, and her photographs have appeared in promotions for companies like Royal Canin, and on the covers of local pet magazines such as Revista Buenos Amigos.
She is currently working on a photographic essay on the Puerto Rican Sato, a book in which she honors the resiliency and noble temperament of stray dogs and cats and through which she intends to raise awareness on the problem of animal overpopulation and neglect in her beloved island of Puerto Rico. When she is not photographing pets, children and families, Marilina likes to work on other photographic subjects, like the natural, urban and abandoned landscapes of Puerto Rico. When it comes to taking her photography into the next level, Marilina never ceases to experiment and learn in order to become a better photographer and a more creative artist.
